I thought I had seen it all, having spent a solid 48 hours with Lucas and cameraman Jay Kemp shooting stories for Future Tech in New York.
But Lucas in tights brought it to a whole new level.
It's all part of the plan, when we arrive at the B15 Motion Capture studio at the New York Institute of Technology (NYIT). That's where Lucas gets suited up in a bright blue, skin tight, spandex ensemble and the studio team covers him in round white markers, to show his range of motion. He almost looks like a superhero caught in a hailstorm. Jay and I take continuous pictures to blackmail Lucas with someday and he just keeps smiling. The great thing about Lucas -- he's game for anything.

NYIT, in suburban Westbury, New York, about an hour outside of Manhattan, has a state-of-the-art motion capture facility, with 32 cameras that can capture and distinguish between a dozen different people (or animals). Everything from an elephant to a flea.
Today, we're going to pair Lucas with a formidable partner, to bring the world of motion capture to life.
Enter Ozzie - an award-winning show dog who is the real star of the show. Today, Ozzie will be Lucas' canine companion as they follow commands ffrom studio Director Dave Voci. Dave instructs Lucas & Ozzie to walk, then jump, and finally, climb a set of stairs on
all fours (that was a personal highlight to watch).
By the time we finish our shoot, Ozzie is pooped, passing out for a quick nap. Thankfully, he waited to shake off most of his motion capture markers until after we got all of our footage. Ozzie - such a pro.
Motion capture is a term you'll be hearing more & more in the future. From NASA using the technology to simulate an aircraft, to medical advancements in gait analsis and even helping to train FBI agents without putting them in the line of fire.
But I'll never be able to hear the phrase 'motion capture' again without seeing Lucas in his little blue suit.
